I recently discovered the Fair to Middlin podcast and the Grit Quarterly lit mag.

One of the stories up now at Grit is “The Bear,” by JD Clapp.

I’m familiar with Clapp’s short fiction, and he just keeps getting better.

Finished.
A unique collection of four stories that blend #GritLit & #SouthernGothic between two writers exploring the same characters in different settings.
Highly recommended.

I heard Alpha Nkuranga speak about her unforgettable memoir, Born to Walk: My Journey of Trials and Resilience (Goose Lane Editions, 2024), at a GritLit event and knew—just *knew*— I had to know more about this person. I was in awe.
