hOAs blocking your HAM or GMRS antenna? The ARRL's "Free The Antenna" campaign is advocating for bills (H.R. 1094 & S. 459) to protect your antenna rights. Emergency communications save lives. Your voice matters. 👉 fullymodulated.com/posts/free-t... #FreeTheAntenna #HAMRadio #GMRS #Broadcasting

ARRL’s nationwide campaign needs YOU! HR 1094 & S 459 would protect amateur radio antenna rights from HOA restrictions. Ham & GMRS operators can send letters to Congress instantly at send-a-letter.org/hoa & send-a-letter.org/gmrs #AmateurRadio #EmergencyPreparedness

Bring back two way radios, that's my takeaway from Stranger Things. And fuck getting a ham or GMRS license (recipe for getting doxxed), pirate radio all day.

I really gotta decide how much I want "everything". When it comes down to it, I CAN just borrow a club radio whenever we're needing to use something besides GMRS. :)

Almost clueless on murs, and details might be different in Canada. SOME FRS and GMRS channels are shared, but not all. Their frequencies overlap, GMRS has more power. If you have GMRS repeaters in your area, GMRS might be better for you. You can talk back and forth on the shared channels

If you're going the GMRS route the Baofeng UV-5G lets you have a UV-5R except it's actually legal and still very cheap

I mean, sure, it is possible to carefully program a radio with GMRS and FRS frequencies, and even though it is technically illegal, if you do it right it is a victimless crime and nobody will be the wiser. But it’s not just a case of being able to transmit on any frequency you can program legally.

My new name tag for the Piedmont Amateur Radio Alliance arrived this afternoon from HamCrazy, and I am absolutely delighted on how it turned out!!!

It's World Amateur Radio Day!

Our isolated rural neighborhood depends on GMRS radios for coordinating disaster response and managing weather and tree fall impacts.

We also have a couple of ham operators that keep us connected to the sheriff's office and others hams on the mountain.

Radios rock!

After years of flirting with the idea of getting my ham license it looks like I’ll be dipping my toe in with GMRS. I’d like to eventually get certified as a storm spotter but small steps. I don’t know a damn thing about radio

If you use #scanners or #CB, #FRS, #GMRS, #MURS or two-way radios in your business, you most likely can take a business tax deduction for a National Communications Magazine subscription to read current and past articles to stay up to date. Dec. 31 is tomorrow! Sign up NOW: www.natcommag.com

Hey Mr Montis, how you liking your baofeng? Looks like the UV-5G? I had two UV-5R for adventuring - all have limitations, take some edumacation to use to full effect, and all, at least before the madness, need licensing for GMRS.

i just got my GMRS license atop my ham license. while the exam is a barrier for a ham license, the lowest level license exam requires only 35 multiple choice questions and no longer has a morse code requirement!

If you've got some kind of neighborhood association you can get a commercial frequency pair, set up a small repeater, and get a bunch of cheap handhelds. Start doing weekly or monthly radio test check-ins. Or even GMRS if everyone is ok with getting individually licensed.

At DEFCON I accidentally started a cult… of HAM & GMRS radio operators. A couple dozen already converted. Step 2: robes with antennas.
