For many Yup'ik speakers, mental health terms don't always translate easily. A new glossary is helping bridge that gap with language rooted in culture and understanding.

SE's LQA—which occurs in tandem with standard QA—obviously includes the basic, standard technical checks, but their QA testers are also incredibly well-versed in each game's glossary and style guides, both company-wide and franchise-specific. They have keen eyes that catch even the most minor stuff.

Anyway, even better, the client didn't supply the other agency with our glossary, so anyone else would've botched the task. It was the weirdest delivery notes I've ever written, making sure the client knew I serendipitously worked on it so they wouldn't raise eyebrows about why it was all correct.

There are 9 chapters, a big bibliography, 4 b&w images, 24 colour plates (from the Globe, RSC, V&A, Royal Collection, Historic Royal Palaces...) & a glossary! It's a BIG book (416pp). I'm so grateful to @oxfordacademic.bsky.social for waiting for it & pricing it so reasonably 2/10

I’m aware of various “building blocks” that are used to build distributed systems in hyperscalers. eg, a distributed lock service, disaggregated write ahead log, and perhaps a few others, but I don’t think anyone has written down a glossary of these? Am I missing one? Or is this just cult knowledge?

Now that the ADL has deleted its entire "glossary of extremism" because Republicans did not like it, it is entirely fair that Democrats are treating them as a partisan organization. That is bad for American Jews. But it is entirely the fault of the ADL's decisions in the past year.
A ‘Mamdani Monitor’?? Zohran RESPONDS to the ADL’s Jonathan Greenblatt for vowing to “track” his admin for antisemitism.

“I have some doubts in Jonathan's ability to do so honestly, given that he previously said I had not visited any synagogues only to have to correct himself.”

Yeah, it's obviously not unusual for SE to outsource localizations for less prestigious games (that's how I got my in with them myself). I'm a lot less privy to how they manage mobage stuff specifically, but my understanding was they still obviously enforced glossary and style guide stuff, which...

This is open bigotry targeting New York’s first Muslim mayor, who won with the support of thousands of Jewish voters.

The ADL has no such initiative regarding the Trump Administration, which employs extremists with ties to antisemitism. It even took down its “Glossary of Extremism” to appease them.

Had a lot of feedback that it was hard to keep track of all the characters and groups in my novel, so I finally got around to adding a glossary. Also, formalised the grammar of the devolved pseudo-Slavic spoken in the setting.

All solid features, I especially hope more RPGs adopt XVI's style of glossary, it's so handy being able to pause a cutscene to reference something mentioned in it or go back and view a timeline of the game. Worked really nicely in Tictacs too!

Avoid jargon whenever possible. When you have to use terms that might not be commonly known or used among your audience, explain what these terms mean. If you can't avoid a lot of specific terms, include a glossary of terms that users can refer to when needed.
