It was beautiful to see the island with naked trees this time - I miss the desert spaces in the west, and it’s so nice that the sky is so big right now.

I don’t know what trails we wandered, but it ended up being nearly 5 miles with 500’+ of elevation gain through a beautiful forest along the river with @girlswhohikevirginia

This week began my project of section hiking it, similar to how I did the Centennial Trail from Idaho to Washington. Barbarian Scientist went to check it out earlier this week and then tonight I “hiked” it with @girlswhohikevirginia to spend time beneath the full moon.

Last week’s full moon hike with @girlswhohikevirginia on the W&OD Trail. It was too cloudy to see the moon, but the weather was right and the company was great.

It was a big weekend of driving over 1,000 miles to see 6 more Virginia State Parks with @girlswhohikevirginia 🗺️ 🥾🌳🌲⛰️

Our first stop was Claytor Lake State Park, where we had a nature and history tour from one of the sweetest park rangers ever.
