One thing I remember from the early 80s was the generic foods aisle. (Where I shopped.) White boxes marked "macaroni and cheese" and cans marked "chili" and "beer." (Mac and cheese? 25 cents, or about 80 cents today.)
That recession, and the unemployment it brought, was brutal.

I just wish the cycle wasn't so predictable. Happens over and over, everywhere, always. Everything it touches becomes slop. Artists are forced to use generic formats and sentiments, while getting paid less. Users find themselves obsessively searching the app for feelings it cannot produce.

I'm here to tell you that voice actors (even very very good ones) are not expensive, more than make up for their cost in the value they bring to your game, and if Baldur's Gate can record real actors for every line of dialogue in the game, so can you for your 100 generic barks or even specific ones.
