#geekdom
Thanks to @gregpak.net for letting us know about zine folding in an "oasis of geekdom" which is truly my family's sweet spot.
I just stopped doomscrolling to (a) organize grocery gift card donations for families at my kid's school, (b) make plans to fold zines about ICE through @handsoffnyc.bsky.social and (c) call Chuck Schumer to tell him what I think of his leadership. Highly recommend, way less infuriating.

the reactionary dweeb polices the borders of geekdom because his genuine interest is outweighed by his psychic investment; he is a subcultural rentier imposing artificial scarcity on an open-source identity to extract status

gaming for him was a property to be enclosed not a hobby to be shared
elon gets away with levels of fake fan far more egregious than that which the subjects of gamergate were accused of

are there really only a few comic book artists or even artists that "get it" and are consistent in the space of "geekdom"?
is fandom a better way to put it?

is nerd even the right word
sure it can be applied to being a scholar but it's roots

If geekdom is to survive/evolve, you can't be afraid to upset the purists.

I agree but I felt a disturbance in the geekdom reading this. Beware the discourse!

Heya, WoTC, I need ya to come mine my brain for all my Geekdom ideas I've absorbed over my time on this planet for Universes Beyond. I would wreck a sequel, Legend of Korra set. I'm sure someone will vouch for my Brainiac like collecting of worlds in my noggin.

you could be fuck ass at walking and fall a lot
that make you a master

just means you fall a lot, right?
are these prhases are often traded around by ppl who don't pursue "mastery"

but "money"
and always deadass use sports ppl in their examples out of pure geekdom and admiration/fanaticism
on a seemingly unrelated note
comforting bullshit: the master has failed more tims than the beginner has -- nope
some things you can't fail at too much for good reason
some ppl just rtfm or pay attention/are good at things without too much trouble

while others just fail a lot and don't grow fast

does it take a lot of energy and reousrces to be into geekdom/learn about a huge swath of entertainment/media at a young age

howmuch of that shit is actually portable wouldn't be a dangerous distraction to do standing or walking

not even a book or a pamphlet can be used like that right?
was i the child running around singing and listening to music that was intended for adults and restricted for ppl over the age of 17

even if i was taller than most men at the age of 13
or was i busy minding my own business not getting distracted

bible enjoyers was i about my father's business
are computers international business machines or game consoles

is that why i have a huge insurmountable "backlog" on almost all things geek
bc i was minding my own business doing things for children

am i even adapted to catch up on this shit
November 6, 2025 at 1:12 PM
and combat was turn-based and shit
but the nostalgia thing
was the the mainstream of geekdom enjoyers or has it become the mainstream as ppl left and moved on

some thought they just outgrew it
but did that shit really just niche down
how's weapon durability recieved in videogames
or limited realistic inventory
it's all hammerspace shit

an npc hands you a bundle of arrows from their kimono/robes like it's a a penny lol

ff7 made a lil sense bc at some pint you've got big ass vehicles and pack animals for inventory
to put it another way it's like the velveteen rabbit
or like i said about a bible
you read it till it falls apart
bible enjoyers does the bible call itself a sword

the spartans, samurai and current military all have plans for when their weapons break yes

hand to hand, knives, etc
November 6, 2025 at 12:51 PM
like who would imagine a cia field officer would come out and be like nah

or someone who studied traditional chinese medicine would come out and be like nah

but tha'ts nerdy
you studied, you got scholarly
you went in deep

it's not superficial geekdom looking at magic tricks
like imagine you just enjoy old mean dramatic tragic shit

but you need to try and sell it in 202x
you'd dress it up

and as long as the small lil' niche of ppl who statsitically are 0% of the populaiton or the target audience never step up and step forward and continue to avoid it

cool
agian is that why i call it geek and no nerd

bc again did i actually look up and study the shit and comics were shown to me latr

and again i saw where reality had gone far in advance of the fiction

seieng how some poor choices never had to be made, how it's not a prduct of it's time
