Passionflower vines are native plants that have beautiful flowers, and are the food for the striking Gulf Fritillary caterpillars that grow up to be gorgeous butterflies. Who gives out the awards for Best Looking Plant/Caterpillar/Butterfly Combination? I’d like to make a nomination.
An orange caterpillar with rows of black branching spikes from head to posterior is seen in profile, sitting atop a green vine half the width of the caterpillar. Out of focus you can make out leaves that have been chewed up by the caterpillar A velvety orange butterfly has delicate black marking and three small silver spots on the forwings. The body is also a soft orange, with silvery silvery spots in the anterior thorax and head.

Friday walk, a miserable little amount of insects as usual during the dry season months. At one point I started taking photos of palms and barking deer scat.
A suspiciously thick, chalcdid-like fly. A orb-weaving spider with an engorged, white abdomen and black marks. On her web is covered with insect wings and bodies. A black wasp like fly-like, slanted eyes. Its face is covered in a metallic gold. A black butterfly with thick orange stripes on the middle of its forwings and the apex of its hindwings.

A common yet stunning autumn resident, the Paris peacock swallowtail is one of my favourite butterflies locally. They are most common during times of shifting monsoons here (October-November, February-April).

A swallowtail butterfly with vibrant green dots all over its body, making it appear dark greens. There is a lateral line of larger, light green dots on its forwings. Under its forewings hides a vibrant blue patch on the side of its wings, and a smaller red eyespot where the two underwings meet. The underwing ends with knob-shaped tail. It is puddling in a very shallow puddle covered in dead grass and fallen sticks.

This cold has wiped me out but I managed to take a walk and came across a Horace's Duskywing (Erynnis horatius) sipping from rainwater that seeped into a section of broken sidewalk a few blocks from my house.
Looking down on a butterfly with dark brown wings spread to the side. It appears velvety sold, with flecks of white on the lateral forwings. There is a hint of blue in the back curves of the hind wings. It is sitting on dirty bricks.
