Truly seems to me like the best explanations are a misreading of public opinion and an ideological commitment to the filibuster by some elderly people

…there are a thousand explanations, the easiest of which, that 007 (and with one neuron’s leap Bond’s identity) is a code name handed to multiple agents IS IN THE FILM THEY’RE COMPLAINING ABOUT.

I’m seeing convergence on 2 explanations for Dems caving: 1) Trump more willing to inflict pain on public than Dems (Ezra Klein), 2) protect the filibuster
But these are still puzzles (derogatory) because strategic actors should anticipate them. They don’t explain why now

Does this extend to confirming whether or not any given suspension is intentional/will stand? I know you don’t do individual explanations, which is why I only asked if there was a way to confirm that it wasn’t an obvious error. (We’ve all seen accounts squashed in error and restored.)

Of course explanations have been offered (air travel over Thanksgiving, they think Trump will never cave, whatever) but we don't know, and when those of us organizing at the local grassroots level *don't understand at all* why elected "opposition leaders" are doing what they're doing, that is bad.

So, do we all agree that the Democrats breaking the line on this shutdown are almost certainly doing so as preselected sacrifices on behalf of their party because none of them are up for reelection this cycle and all of their personal explanations suck?

It’s only distinct from the far right’s reactionary nostalgia in that the forces being blamed are neoliberalism and capitalism rather than liberalism and racial pluralism. But the resentful paranoia about the modern world is unmistakable on both sides, even if certain explanations are taboo here.

Either Ivanka has no knowledge of where that quote came from or she does know and decided to use it anyway, once again relying on the ignorance of the MAGA minions. I'm unsure which of the two explanations is more egregious.
