NYT editors doing the reverse Dreger here.
To recap: Jeffrey Epstein offered a NY Times reporter photos taken in Epstein's kitchen of Donald Trump and girls in bikinis *and* implored the NYT reporter to put this information in the public discourse in 2015

What did the NY Times editors know about this offer?
“would you like photos of donald and girls in bikinis in my kitchen?” -Jeffrey Epstein

How many NYTimes editors were at Epstein’s island?

Or is it just that their friends and sources were raping kids?
The question everyone is asking right now is this: NYT had deep access into all of this in real time and reported none of it. Why? In consequence, no NYT reporting on this subject is trustworthy.

I think we should arrest people at the New York Times for covering up a pedophile conspiracy. I think they need new owners and editors.
Fall 2017: Then-NYT reporter literally warning Epstein that someone is "digging around again."

Has the NY Times commented on this? Did this reporter let his editors know this offer was made, and, if so, what was their reasoning for not reporting out the story? This would be news by almost any standard.

firing your legendary political reporting team is a choice. as is firing all your Black editors and disability rights advocate writers.

not one single cent or iota of attention.

For all the rejection this year, which is a symptom of being in a better position to pitch editors directly, I'm glad I can still sit down to do it again and still get excited about a story idea. If I lose that, then it's really over.

NYT editors and toxic incentives of caring only about their manufactured elite: Ivies, CEO billionaires, macho police officers, (cis) soldiers, "heartland" (white) farmers, fellow mediocre "meritocracy" media men

"filled with people who would rather have a beer with chris rufo than jamelle bouie"
Chris Rufo "a total product of right-wing affirmative action and you literally would never have heard of him if he was a liberal"

NYT front page coverage all the time!

By powerful, mediocre editors who push "meritocracy" narrative yet hired each other with legacy privilege

and his editors. and those people’s bosses. you think the decision to catch and kill this story didn’t come from the top?

This ties into something I’ve been rolling over in my mind. There are definitely editors who search out and recruit craven assholes because of their pre-existing proximity to power. I will always have a hard time trusting a journalist with a famous name who comes from money.
Yep. Some go into journalism to have access to power, to be power's handmaiden & PR. Others go into journalism to question & illuminate the operation of power & how some norms/systems hurt the powerless. Wolff just 1 of many examples showing--again--the former is very common& usu far more lucrative.
Aside from every other repulsive thing about these Epstein emails, they offer direct confirmation of Michael Wolff as one of the sketchiest creeps in a teeming universe of gross behavior

Sincere question: I keep seeing sins imputed to the Times as an institution that seem to lie primarily with a single Times reporter who was benched because of his close relationship with Epstein. There’s no indication he even shared what he learned from Epstein with his editors.

What am I missing?

I was just listening to a podcast this morning about the NYTimes publishing some stupid op-ed about how women are ruining the workplace and now this Epst**n news drops. I guess we know what type of work those editors think we should be doing, now.

All The President's Men, the movie, should be mandatory viewing. One of the early editors meeting scenes touches on this. If the 'big' reporters aren't on it, then it can't be true or worthwhile is the gist of one of them as he talks to Ben Bradlee (Jason Robards).
They lionize Woodward who had Trump in a knowing lie about COVID in February 2020 and saved it for 2021 for his book. That's their -hero-
Again, maybe what the takeaway we should have from political reporter after political reporter not just getting chummy w ppl like Trump or Epstein (or RFK Jr 👀) but actively running interference for them—either in their coverage or privately—is that its an industry full of ppl that are Bad Actually™️

And didn't Lichtblau later say he quit because this was not the article he wrote, that editors changed it and added the other guy to the byline? Am I hallucinating this?
