Wanna put this out here, I love how much space @venustheory.bsky.social is giving the indie game developers to tell their own stories. A brilliant essay / documentary / video in my opinion.

I'm already used to it from those robot developers trying to make uncanny valley latex flesh monsters.

I could've swore there used to be a way [in android settings] for the user to set app priority higher so it wouldn't time out/maintain a higher thread state as a hacky fix, though maybe I'm misremembering and that sort of thing is only available to developers in Bluesky's app manifest.

I think the performative moral outrage about voice actors or artists losing jobs to ai in video games while IT, program managers, devops, software developers etc have had mass layoffs from ai in all industries yet you're not denouncing ai in the comments there is the real "ass reply".

This is a perfect example of one of the things that Nintendo does to make me dislike and boycott them (excerpt from a Kickstarter campaign I backed).

I was almost foolish enough to request a Nintendo Switch key, but thankfully, I came to my senses and requested a Steam key instead 🙌

Following up on this: the tooling for this sort of thing will be the easy part. The more challenging part will be building a sustainable shared resource for 3rd party developers to take advantage of. I've posted to the ATProto Discourse in an attempt to start this conversation:

The government, media, and corporations are redirecting anger toward migrants instead of those actually responsible: landlords raising rents, grocery chains posting record profits, wealthy developers building luxury condos instead of affordable housing.
Reject Carney’s Billionaire Budget
Carney’s first budget is a gift to billionaires – and an attack on workers, communities, and the planet. This budget would gut our public services, attack migrant and refugee protections, fuel climate...

It was intersting to see how local authorities were trying to reconcile the past with the future when hoping to build this city. The idea of local partners teaming up with developers should be the norm, and yet isn’t:The Line. I hope BR will not only be an enclave for digital nomads but locals too.

You might ask "Isn't it then rather named after that computer as well?" And the answer is no, of course not. I mean partly. But not directly. Because HAL Laboratory are the developers of the EarthBound games... which inspired HS in the first place.

That's not something you can blame on third party app developers. Apple has full control over every part of that and they're doing it wrong.

iOS 26.2 comes out in December, they will have hopefully spent the couple of months between releases cleaning that stuff up

From the way I've seen others talk about game key cards you'd think they're the worst thing to happen to physical media when really the only crime is that ugly text on the box.

Like do this crowd realize they're doing way more harm than good and discouraging developers to go physical?
