"Thanks," Ryn sighs, stretching her arms overhead with a dramatic groan. "I just want a foot massage, some strips of jerky, and twelve hours of sleep. Is that so much to ask?" "I'll second the jerky," Drax says, visibly perking up at the mere mention of meat. "Lucky for you," Ryn replies, "I've got a decent amount left." She begins rummaging through her bag with the determination of a woman on a mission. Out comes her battered leather journal (which she treats more lovingly than most people), a steel water bottle, various survival supplies, a blow-up pillow, and enough provisions to qualify as a miniature general store. The only thing still attached is her bedroll. Drax exhales the slow, beleaguered sigh of someone witnessing their own personal apocalypse. I eyeball him, already knowing where this is going and bracing myself. "Excuse me while I reorganize the catastrophe you just unleashed," he grumbles, crouching beside her bag as though he's about to defuse a bomb. Drax is, without question, the most pathologically orderly person I know. He can't abide a mess. Watching Ryn empty her bag on the ground is, for him, a spiritual attack. Woe to anyone outside our little gang foolish enough to disrupt his carefully-curated order. I'd almost pity the poor soul if I weren't too busy marveling at the spectacle of righteous fury he'd unleash. Naturally, Ryn ignores him completely. He starts folding things that don't want to be folded and tucking away rations with the reverence of a librarian handling sacred texts. Meanwhile, having located it, Ryn tears into a pouch of dried meats with zero ceremony. The smell hits Drax, and he freezes, fist curled around one of Ryn's wrinkly shirts (one I instantly recognize, being that it's among Ryn's favorites, marked by that angled zipper slicing down to its asymmetrical hem). "Relax, big guy,” she says, tossing him a strip, and I conceal a chuckle, since the action feels reminiscent of a zookeeper feeding an animal. He drops the shirt, catches the jerky, and tears off a chunk with his carnassials. All the while, he watches her with sharp and unreadable eyes. I let them be, turning my attention to the surrounding cliffs. I can see why my father picked this spot. The tall sandstone walls on either side act like a natural windbreak, which is crucial now that the desert gusts are gaining speed, angling toward full-blown haboob territory. Ha. Boob. Still funny. What? I'm allowed one childish indulgence. Okay, fine. One among many. Take it up with my middle finger.

I know you have to ask these questions, but what's clear to any thinking person is that that visit and interview was nothing more than a set-up to defuse suspicion of Trump and ensure Ghislaine would keep her mouth shut. We all knew that. You can't believe a word that Blanche reported.

Yeah, I think the user consent is key—because if you watch how these things blow up, people are often spending hours speculating over what happened. It might not make people less mad, but it could at least defuse the buildup after something happens and nobody knows why.

Both are acting like they are mere internet sleuths and/or investigative journalists, who can do little more than make a webpage & write a book on COVID origins. All he has done is released a couple emails from Fauci, with vague assurances his staff is going over documents in private. 3/ 4 to 6 of 9: But why is any of this information private? A tried to further defuse the situation, but I told him, “I have no beef or frustration w C; I simply wanted to dispel any notion that I have any interest in you [A].” Making friends within the community here in the DMV hasn’t been the easiest, and interactions like this one don’t help.

I love how these dumb nerds assume that a signifigant amount of people out there care, or even remember, that Bond apparently died in the last film? This is like some nerd 20 years ago going: "But Bucky clearly died while attempting to defuse Zemo's drone bomb... how could he possibly be alive?"

That's true, they did. I remember my mum telling me that a bomb landed on the main London-Scotland rail line near Gateshead/Newcastle & didn't explode. When they went to defuse it, it was found to be stuffed with Czech newspapers.
