The idea of mediation between Russia and the West was very dear to Pushkin. Moreover, mediation in general is a central concern of Pushkin's philosophy and his works.. In his own life too, Pushkin wanted to mediate between his friends, tho Decembrists, and the regime.

Opinion: History shows that most of Russia’s successful liberal reforms have come from within the state itself rather than from uprisings like the Decembrists, an anonymous writer in Russia argues.

The Decembrists saw themselves as tragic actors on the stage of history, hoping for vindication by posterity rather than immediate victory. Yet in a narrow sense, they might have won

The Decembrists did not know their own people. They are rebels (as well as Catholics or Lutherans). Their "rebellion" is a regression. This is the opinion of the Russian Minister of Justice. He spoke at a conference for the 200th anniversary of the Decembrists' uprising
Декабристы не знали свой народ. Они мятежники (а также католики или лютеране). Их «бунт» — это регресс Так считает министр юстиции России. Он выступил на конференции к 200-летию восстания декабристов — Meduza

I myself am annoyed frankly on how little even libs tried to draw on from say things like February, 1905 or even Decembrists memory wise to base the states identity on. The usual argument is there is little out there but imho thats no excuse, others invented entire nat hagiographies from less

You ever think about how The Decembrists just made a straight up Belle and Sebastian song in the same way that Dare to Be Stupid is a straight up DEVO song?

Ofc in this case the pastiche does not beat the original.

Top record companies gave 3-5 album deals to artists. So, they experimented/developed to make hits. Now, because of slim profit margins and how its earned from individual songs, artists get a few tracks. So, mixed to max, pop music wins. Harder stuff like White Stripes and Decembrists get fewer. 2/2

It did lead my partner and I to discuss what percentage of Decembrists songs involve death. We figured around 70%?
