Most white colleges wouldn’t accept Black students, and Black colleges didn’t have the capacity to handle the post-war demand—by 1947, as many as 50,000 qualified Black veterans had been turned away.

colleges are a lot like beers, in that it doesn’t really matter which one you pick. they’re all equally good and indistinguishable from one another

Now do universities and colleges
Let's work together across party lines to defend the forestry sector. Because when forestry is strong, Canada is strong.

I mean, why else would he spend "hours" with her?

Making China Great Again.

2 months ago Trump said he plans to make US students attend lower-ranking colleges to keep them from going bankrupt.

He now wants 600,000 Chinese students.

He wants Chinese students, not American students, to fill seats at the top colleges.
MAGA turns on Trump as he says US needs 600,000 Chinese students
"I wouldn’t want a single Chinese student in America," one MAGA-supporter said.

"Colleges don't make that much money" is one of the funniest things anyone's ever said.

Yes, it's always Reagan, the Magic Dragon, and not "lots of people going to college on an endless supply of loan money that made colleges never think twice about raising tuition against an inelastic demand for their product"
My father could have reached in his back pocket and paid for my college tuition in 1980.

Then Reagan happened.

tbh it's not even that directed, it's just a direct correlation between labor and locality. All medical labor is local, same with colleges, etc etc. The further you go down the list, the less local the labor is.

Does he not know that black people go to HBCU’s? That’s why its called Historically Black colleges and universities. His stupidity is astounding.

Yes, it was.

Reagan was Gov of Cali, initiated tuition and cut state funding of UC system by 10%. Prior to that colleges in Cali had No tuition.

As President, he then reduced federal aid and grants to colleges so kids had to take out student loans as the primary source of college funding.

We have another sign the Labour government is serious about the value of good quality FE.

Not only is there £800m investment, but they are creating Regional Improvement Teams to help underperforming colleges to turn things around, including breaking down barriers to opportinity for 70k students.

Also, why aren't they partnering with schools/colleges to create programs that develop these skills. If tech related, I know people who's kids couldn't get in to a number of colleges because they wanted a comp sci degree and there is a lot of competition in those programs.

Trump is using the gov shutdown to pump up his illegal moves to shutter DOE. He’s shriveling agencies for civil rights, special ed, K-12, tribal colleges and HBCUs. He’s cutting staff, ending grant programs, cancelling contracts and moving the gutted functions to other federal agencies.

Autocracies are based on desperation to create more fear and dependence of the leader. Look at some colleges reacted to federal research funds. It's deliberate to weaken the power of the people.

In the last 3 days, the Supreme Court ruled trans people have (again!) lost access to valid passports, a federal district court legalized bullying against (only!) trans kids, and Cornell University joined the growing number of colleges agreeing to discriminate/ban trans people. When is it enough??
