If China’s renewables boom is to turn into a decarbonisation success, those renewables need make deep cuts in the amount of coal-fired power on the grid, rather than just to supplement it

So the first food trip place I had to go was Sally's pizza in New Heaven CT. This was a whole new style of pizza for me. Made in a coal fired oven and cooked a bit more crispy then most places you are going to. And it was good! How good? Well let me tell you~

65% of the planned coal capacity from 2015 ended up not existing, thanks almost entirely to climate policy and renewable energy construction
China is an outlier - but maybe not for long

In the NEAR future, US will be limited on TRADE, as the world leaves it behind as a pariah state on climate issues

China is exporting low-cost climate tech to emerging economies at a record pace. It's good news for reducing global emissions, but a huge lost opportunity for the US to remain competitive globally in this field.

yes, I get your point
but even when a renewables utility is built, it doesn't need to be the only land use
you can't graze sheep on a fracking lease, nor around a coal-fired power station
wind, solar doesn't necessarily sterilise land from multiple use

The stronger probably goes like this:
LLMs are like preserved, canned food. Useful, but much worse than bespoke cooked meals. LLM owners want to make canneries with fewer workers and lower wages, and fire all the chefs. Money goes into their pockets, and the canneries are all coal-fired.

Coal-fired power plants not only pollute the air but also release toxins such as arsenic and mercury into our waters. In 2024, the EPA finalized stringent wastewater treatment standards for those plants. This year, to support Trump's revival of coal, the EPA is "delaying" those standards.

In Australia’s NEM, gas-fired generators often set the marginal price for electricity. Because wholesale prices are based on the last unit dispatched, high gas costs push up prices for all generation — even cheaper renewables and coal. Gas drives the power price. #energy #auspol
