"The pipe bomber is a MAGA Neo-Nazi Brony"

"He's been muttering things like that all night. I just pray to St. Brigid that the fever breaks soon" the Abbot of Clonmacnoise said to the hospitalier.

The MS of the week is RIA MS 23 E 25, Lebor na hUidre, also known as the Book of the Dun Cow. Written in Irish at Clonmacnoise before AD 1106, it contains the oldest version of the Táin Bó Cuailgne, the Voyage of Bran, the Feast of Bricriú, and other material from the Irish literary tradition.

Enjoyed yesterday's outing to Clonmacnoise with @tuatha.ie! Driving up, the weather was quite wet but it turned out to be a spectacular day - I needed sunglasses, which I very handily left in the car. 😎😅

This is a dreadful photo (it was a distance away) but had a lovely one watching us at Clonmacnoise yesterday. Gorgeous birds!

Though I once had a nest just outside my old office window. The absolute racket the chicks make! 😅

Just home from a wonderful day on our Tuatha Tour of Clonmacnoise, led by the great Dr Christy Cunniffe.

We discussed patronage and pilgrimage, the engineering and artistry of high crosses, monastic hinterlands and Viking raids.

Already looking forward to the next outing!

Brilliant day out in good company!

And the weather was unbelievably kind, lashing it down all the way to Clonmacnoise but the moment we stepped onto the site the sun came out.

St Ciarán was looking after us!

The town of Athlone (Ireland) grew around Athlone Castle, which was strategically built in 1129 at the first location north of Clonmacnoise where River Shannon was passable. It is a nice town to visit. #Athlone #Ireland backpackandsnorkel.c...

Ja, das war sehr schön. Besonders beeindruckt hat mich Clonmacnoise, die Stadt Athlone und der Lough Key. Aber eigentlich war alles schön und über weite Strecken viel grüne Weiden!

Clonmacnoise was a monastery on the banks of the River Shannon that was founded in 544AD by Saint Ciarn, one of the 12 Apostles of Ireland, and 7 followers. It is a must-see in Ireland. How did you like it? #Clonmacnoise #Ireland backpackandsnorkel.c...

The Slaves and Scholars documentary by @blindboyboatclub.bsky.social is excellent, but my personal highlight was the historian wearing a SunnO))) shirt at Clonmacnoise, that's modern-day pagan ritual music

Yes, I see a connection between this and the sighting of ships in the sky around the monastery of Clonmacnoise in the year 743 as recorded in The Annals of the four masters. Both are a form of eschatological panic

I did, when I was there! I'm getting fairly reliable at spotting them, happy to say. Two on Shanrahan church, one on St Gobnaits in Ballyvourney... They're all quite big! The first one I ever knew was the little one in the arch of the Nuns Chapel (I think) at Clonmacnoise.
