When educational institutions are promoting GenAI as innovation and imposing its use on students and faculty, they are by extension promoting all the heinous "creativity" that spawns from it as expressions of misogyny, racism, ableism, classicism...

If you're a member of that middle class undergoing that transition, you might be tempted to think, "everything is worse now!" but there's some implicit classicism in that word everything, isn't there?

The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God in Donbas is burning after Russian shelling. Built in the late 19th–early 20th century in the Cossack Baroque style with elements of Classicism, it is part of the local cultural heritage.

“Les Canéphores” (1852) by William-Adolphe Bouguereau.

Great example of mid-19th century academic classicism by the quintessential “establishment” artist of the time. Much like his contemporary Meissonier, sort of a guilty pleasure...

Palantir-grooming with a "4 weeks course in Western civilization", by which is meant the alphamale-incel & fascist alternate reality we see on X since 22.

I happen to know Classicism & speak Latin. Their alternate universe BS on the antiquity is as grotesque as their Antichrist fake-christianity.
Palantir is now hiring children to groom them into supporting a techno-fascist surveillance state.

This fellowship kicks off with a 4-week seminar covering the “foundations of the West, U.S. history and its unique culture, and movements within America.”

I like to think I bring my A game always, but I have to tell y’all, I gave a lecture on Thursday about bad classicism, the simultaneous origins of the NCAA & modern Olympics, & Tait McKenzie’s “Chronicle of Amateur Spirit,” & the 25 students who came to class in the rain got my best work of 2025.

Like most primitive fascists (and unlike, say, Mussolini) he's a fan of straightforward classicism. Art Deco is too modern for his taste.

Architect Allison Beer McKenzie criticizes Trump’s proposed 90,000-square-foot White House ballroom, arguing it breaks classical principles of symmetry, proportion, and balance. Though trained in Classicism, most architects agree the addition disregards architectural harmony for political spectacle.

Love this infill proposal.

The actual architecture could use some refinement, since it is in the uncanny valley between classicism & glass box. Additionally lining up the stairs with blank walls in the adjacent building, so they could protrude beyond the box, could free up sf for better layouts.

'...the way some promoters of classicism have talked about “beauty” and insisted that “classical public buildings make us feel proud of our country” is not only backward-looking; it easily legitimizes a MAGAlomaniac architecture of little aesthetic value.'

Not remotely surprised that Steven Miller - an overt fascist - is essentially decrying ‘degenerate’ art and espousing neo-classicism…
Stephen Miller: "The scandal is how Democrats & the left scarred the landscape of our country w/grotesque so-called modern art that celebrates ugliness ... very importantly, President Trump is making sure it's in the neo-classical design around which our nation's architecture has long been directed"

A reminder really that there are good architects actually interested in classicism and there are bad architects (and associated gadflies) who see “classicism” as a path to whatever cynical thing they actually seek. Bob Stern would never do this project.

youtu.be/0uDZZJo6Tyk?... Robert Hughes on Albert Speer and the 'evil of banality': 'he knew one way to make a building, one way to turn a corner, one way to make a window frame ... a squared-off pseudo-classicism.' The poverty of their thought; the deadening hollowness of their art, is writ large.
