also, like, the problem with centrists is that they're centrist about "should minorities have rights". Being a milquetoast fence-sitter about issues that aren't life-or-death real-world politics is not only OK, it's BETTER than feeling pressured to have an extreme take on every piece of media.

We'd better get some far more qualified people running things for the left. As long as corporate Democrat centrists control the party, we're doomed since most people can't tell the difference between them and Republicans.

I suspect that many “centrists”, “moderates”, and “liberals” from the pundit class meekly agree with certain facets of MAGA. It has nothing to do with embracing politics that will win.
I am open to making deals within the coalition or to expand the coalition but if the proposed deal mechanism is “give up things you want and I will explain how that helps you later” that’s going to be a problem
The reality is that they want an even more conservative Democratic party and this is a way to argue for that without actually saying it

The centrists pretend that republican-style identity politics and caving on culture war stuff can peel off enough soft republican voters to make up for that 6 or 7 percent of voters they are antagonizing, but it has never been true and it gets less true every year.

Heh oh I think this primary will be a surprise in a good way. I think corporate Dems want us to THINK that people want centrists but this year’s elections really don’t bear that out.

Centrists do this too, deciding someone is too woke or too socialist or whatever. A lot of us (again, broad us, this happens from different angles) say this means the Dem brand is poisoned, but what would it mean to build a brand that could unite people looking for reasons to bolt?

Historically, major changes have often been driven by forces with clearly defined stances. Under the current social structure, does such "clearly defined" change have a sufficient foundation to take root? Or do you believe that the current "centrists" are essentially just maintaining the status quo?

The Marjorie Taylor Greene conciliation tour is fascinating to watch - it doesn't accomplish its stated goals of damaging Trump any more than she was willing to do on her own, but it's still an excuse for centrists to browbeat leftists for "failing to think strategically"
