once I saw Carolknight become a thing, I exiled myself from online deltarune circles. Cope says this is simply the result of a lot of casual fans coming back and surely, *surely* this will all fall off and self-correct in the next few months

No joke, fuckikg Mario and Luigi Brothership of all things made me go from being a general Holidayknighter (with actually being slightly carolknight over dessknight) to 100% Dessknighter. That and MOTHER 3 of course.

lastly: we get the Knight in a chapter where non-loreheads are finally introduced to Dess outside of vague references. Raise Up Your Bat is straight up about her. Carol is involved, sure, but it really feels like CarolKnight is a consequence of 6 years of 'ho is da nite?!?!'.

further: if Toby wanted CarolKnight to be the interpretation, why didn't he bother adding extra dialogue if you beat the Knight in ch3? Even a single added '...' from Carol to convey her displeasure with the Soul's antics. CarolKnight just doesn't seem intended by the narrative as presented.

It's not about the timing. It's about how the story is presented to us. We leave the house, go to the church, and the first person we see is the Knight already waiting for us. If Toby's intent was CarolKnight, he would probably have made sure you can't beeline it and get the idea she can't be there.
