Book review of #CallUsWhatWeCarry by @TheAmandaGorman plus some #calligraphybycorrie

Corrie Haffly on Instagram: "#CallUsWhatWeCarry by @amandascgorman is a book of poems shaped by the past years of being in a pandemic (one of her poems includes these lines: “This is edgeless doubt: / Every cough seemed catastrophe, / Every proximate person a potential peril.”). I love the way Amanda plays with words and syllables, and there are also several poems where she takes the meaning or root of a word and plays with that, too. Another section that I really loved has journal entries from Corporal Plummer, a Black soldier who served in France, and intersperses Amanda’s haikus among his concise lines. Swipe to see all of the #calligraphybycorrie pieces that were inspired by this beautiful work. #corriereads #corrielovesreading"
