I love the way Amanda plays with words and syllables, and there are also several poems where she takes the meaning or root of a word and plays with that, too. Another section that I really loved has journal entries from Corporal Plummer, a Black soldier who served in France, and intersperses Amanda’s haikus among his concise lines.
