#ArtAdventCalendar #PointReyes #CaliforniaWildflowers California wild pea, more scientifically known as Lathyrus vestitus. This is one of the lighter ones I have seen. Photo probably from Bear Valley Trail in Point Reyes. The straight leaves are probably non-native crocosmia. Day 4 of AAC.

By June when most #CaliforniaWildflowers have run their course, this one shows up: #FarewelltoSpring, appropriately named as it is here to usher in #Summer. It is a beautiful 4-petal pinkish species of #Clarkia native to our #SantaClaraValley .

Matilija Poppy✨🐝🐞🪲

White petals like crepe paper, golden heart wide open.

Known as the “fried egg flower,” it holds the title for largest native bloom in California.

Hard to start, unstoppable once it settles.

Plantago erecta is stunning, if you are willing to get on your belly and see it at its level, otherwise it’s easily walk and completely miss it due to it looking like a drab grey hued grass, which it’s not, 5 cm tall at most. #plantago #bellyplants #californiawildflowers #flowers
