We were working with GSK on a cachexia drug almost 20 years ago.

Suddenly all work stopped as big pharma fired almost all of their scientists and retooled business to focus on existing drugs for off label applications.

I am glad to see something finally come to market for cachexia.
Fingers crossed. Cachexia is a horrible & frequent clinical feature of cancer.
“It’s a cachexia moment,” says Vickie Baracos, a cachexia expert at the University of Alberta. “A positive phase III result would be amazing. We’ve been waiting for this for a long time”

Previously noted, absolutely not enough attention paid to the role of anxiety in etiology especially if so predisposed. And the symptomology of cachexia explained does not suggest difficulty in diagnosis.

New JCO study from Teresa Zimmers, PhD: Tocilizumab + gem/nab-paclitaxel didn't change median OS, but improved 18-mo survival and reduced cachexia in adv pancreatic cancer. IL-6 blockade may support precision anticachexia strategies.

Frequently the parents walled off their child from any contact while they wasted away -cachexia- & were cared for by their partner. The few who had a house, or other valuable assets when they passed made the parents pop up to claim the inheritance.

Low PTH in CKD
✅ Often linked to adynamic bone disease (ABD)
✅ Or to malnutrition-inflammation cachexia syndrome (MICS)
✅ Low PTH → impaired bone turnover, ↑ mortality risk
⚠️ MICS: driven by inflammation, protein-energy wasting & chronic illness
