Year finishes with 132spp in my 10km circle. A decent total that took alot of hard yards. Sadly v poor for waders (no decent habitat) and the usual declining species hard to find.
Highlights inc this GND, Merlin, Kittiwake, Wood Sand, Whooper Swan, Bittern & White-fronts #ukbirding #bucksbirdnews

This Great Northern Diver at Foxcote today was perhaps overdue, but still an unexpected patch mega. Looked very sluggish when I was there, but was seen catching a fish earlier. So hopefully it’s in good health #ukbirding #bucksbirdnews

This Scaup at Foxcote is my best patch find for quite a while. Follows one yesterday near Tring. After being very rare in Bucks for about 10 years, we’ve had 7 since March 2023. Thanks to @paulgibbs.bsky.social for the pic #ukbirding #bucksbirdnews

Juv Marsh Harrier at Foxcote this morning. No sign of yesterday’s Wood Sand. Pretty much a whole autumn’s excitement packed into two days! #ukbirding #bucksbirdnews

Passage waders are a rare sight in north Bucks, especially at my local reservoir. Nice to see this splendid adult Black-wit today, amongst a noisy throng of recently fledged Black-headed Gulls #ukbirding #bucksbirdnews

Richard’s Pipit still at the N end of Bury Field, Newport Bagnell, though mobile (lots of evening dog walkers & joggers). Calling in flight so easy to locate #bucksbirds #ukbirds #bucksbirdnews #ukbirding

WHITE-TAILED EAGLE Aston Clinton (Bucks) / Wilstone (Herts). NE low across A41 far ahead of me at Aston Clinton (pic1), checked Wilstone Res with no luck but then briefly saw it sat on large dead tree surrounded by corvids (pic2) - assume Marlow bird.

New species for Watermead - a juvenile MERLIN just rocketed through, along the River Thame, over the large lake then slalomed between the rooftops! Looking very out of place in the urban environment…
