From iron workers, bricklayers, glass operatives, lath makers, carpenters, painters and behind-the-scenes workers like lumbermen, wood choppers, saw operatives, wood and iron dealers, brick makers, quarry and mill workers, dispatchers, teamsters, and countless workers whose roles may never be known.

One thing that was important to me was documenting the precise process by which sugar grown on the white Vassalls' slave-labor camps in Jamaica was transformed into their house in Cambridge. This meant following the sugar crop from the fields all the way into the pockets of Massachusetts craftsmen.

The Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 23 knows I’ve always been with workers in the fight for a level playing field, a living wage, and a dignified retirement.

Thank you for your endorsement, let’s send a voice for Ohio workers to the Senate.

A couple of pictures from the Brickies beer festival yesterday, including the presentation of the South Bedfordshire pub of the year award from CAMRA, and 2 of the Luton Ukimaniacs (the full band played later in the day).
18 cask ales, various ciders, bottled beers. Great festival, worth a visit.

Is it me?

US social media and news is alive with Trump crashing the US stock market.

Yet there is little coverage on BBC, who appear to be fixated on we have not trained enough bricklayers in the last 8 months?

2. The Department of Labor actually has official definitions for unskilled work and more than half of the jobs here aren't unskilled.
Farmer, grocery cashier, delivery driver, barista, restaurant server. None of those are unskilled.

Bricklayers' skill level is considered on par with doctors!

They just need to show some can-do spirit and stop being lazy. There's always call for bricklayers, plumbers, temporary office or warehouse workers. Hell, why not ask their local high street shops if any work is going? Stop acting entitled to whatever job you want and earn your keep!

Applicable only if the guidance system was built by Victorian bricklayers. Unlikely.

"You cannot build a socialist building with bricklayers who are capitalists. Why? Because they are going to steal the rebar, they are going to steal the cement, because they are only looking to solve their own problems, because that is how we are formed."
Pepe Mujica: My Generation Made a Naive Error
The late Uruguayan statesman José “Pepe” Mujica argues that capitalism is not just property relations but a set of cultural values that the Left must confront with a culture of solidarity.

The best thing Starmer could do for the migration figures would be to rejoin the Single Market.

Potentially 400,000 EU bricklayers coming here to build all those houses he wants.

And millions of UK pensioners escaping to the EU.

Lack of transferable education and professional credentials. Arbitrary and OUR FAULT. My family friends were accomplished doctors, but here had to work as a PA and a nurse because they couldn't use their foreign medical degrees. There's engineers working as bricklayers, other pros driving for Uber.

Seems hard to explain that 1. the Netherlands builds mostly in brick 2. Dutch say they prefer brick houses yet 3. the # of bricklayers has fallen from 25k to under 6k over 30 years. Maybe this bricklaying robot will solve the problem but I sort of doubt it mtsprout.nl/groei/monume...

Battle re-enactment at Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex. The castle was made of bricks using local clay on the order of Sir Roger Fiennes, Treasurer of the Household of King Henry VI - but the bricklayers came from Flanders in 1441. The cost back then was £3,800 which is now worth £4,223,999.45p
