Gradius Galaxies is solid if you like Gradius. It doesn't reinvent the series or shmups. Just good shooting fun.
Boktai is good but more accessible as a ROM. The sun sensor never worked for me.
Any of the F-Zero games are good.
Summonnight is a ton of fun, but not exactly short.
