#bird's-foottrefoil
The presently incumbent #CommonBlue male continues to guard one of the patches of #Bird's-foottrefoil on my #allotment against other Common Blue males.
He has some missing parts to show for his efforts but seems undeterred!

#Lotuscorniculatus is a flowering plant in the pea family Fabacee. Common names include #commonbird's-foottrefoil, #eggsandbacon, #birdsfoot #deervetch, and just #bird's-foottrefoil. It has a wide distribution and is a favored forage for livestock. It’s a nice splash of color. #wildflower

drooping inflorescence for insects but so far this summer, very little sign of more than the odd Honey bee of Buff-tailed bumblebee. Yet the RHS still put it on its list for pollinator-friendly garden plants!
I just don't get it!

which is a mere 1.7% of ..he mass of the whole Earth!
Within the whole site on which my 5x25m plot is just one of hundreds, there are non-native plants galore, among them the Buddleja is ubiquitous & taking up a lot of space. I always check its purple or blue

It was a grey mid-day at the #allotment but then two charismatic friends & a male Blue turned my head towards one of the small golden mounds and I was hooked for a glorious age!

A #Wilke'sMiningBee about to land on #HempAgrimony on my #allotment.
According to #StevenFalk these bees seem to like umbellifers as nectar sources but main reason I see them each year might be relative abundance of #Bird's-foottrefoil, #clovers & #vetches from which they gather pollen.
