A couple weeks ago a charity came by giving out free food to airport workers affected by the government shutdown and I took home a big bag of produce but kept neglecting to find time to cook them until now. Still got a bunch of carrots, beets, & potatoes and I hope they stay fresh a bit longer...

I make ketchup out of beets, carrots, honey and wine vinegar due to allergies that my granddaughter has. It actually tastes like ketchup

One of my biggest pet peeves is people who say “Love ya!” Instead of “I love you!” I feel like Love Ya! Is I love you lite. Fat free. Not really. I also hate: hugs, okra, people who hover and/or rummage, beets, close talking, phonies. In case you care to know.

I planted a bunch of greens, brassicas, lettuce, beets, radishes, and elephant garlic today.

Within the next 1-2 months I should have a pretty nice variety of greens to munch on. :3

Chives, Thinly sliced bell pepper strips, Julienned carrots or beets – bright and flexible for straight or curved stitches.

Shredded cheese, Angel-hair pasta (cooked and dyed with natural food colors) –like embroidery floss.

So many great suggestions here! I’ve been making this Butternut Squash Galette from Food52 for years and everyone loves it. It can be made in advance and reheated. I’ve also replaced some of the squash with sliced roasted beets for a festive hit of autumnal color. food52.com/recipes/7329...
