Last goat baby of the year just dropped! Right on her due date.

With 15 babies from 10 pregnancies, that concludes #babygoatcountdown for 2025. (I have to actually sit down and write some notes for this year's birth record at some point soon before I forget everything...aaahhhh too much happening)

I love getting home and finding a brand new, super healthy baby goat! Round 2 of the #babygoatcountdown is here! Looks like the Lamancha-tiny-ears genes win out over Nubian-giant-ears genes for at least 2 generations. Interesting.

Good morning from goat land, where we have no new baby goats yet from #babygoatcountdown round 2. But we do have bouncy babies on hay bales under very dramatic skies.

I was pretty sure that last mama was going to have her babies last night (sure enough that I got up at 2am to check, sigh). But no new babies yet!

But the ones I have already are pretty darn cute!

Also got all the babies out in the sun today. It got up to almost 10C which was AMAZING but holy cow that's a lot of mud... Luckily the babies are very good at finding good places to take naps in between attempting to frolic and meeting the other animals. #babygoatcountdown

It really does look like these two goats (who happen to be mother and daughter) are going to co-parent the two babies together. Interesting!

I have to say that having a barn full of cute baby goats (current count at 5 babies from 2 mamas) that I can snuggle anytime I need is much, much more therapeutic than rage-screaming in the hay field.

Today was RIDICULOUS. But then I got baby goat snuggles after work, which was really like the best thing EVER (and more baby goats are coming soooon!)

It's -15C out (and only slightly warmer under the heat lamp in the barn stall), so baby goats with long floppy ears get the latest in baby goat accessories to try to keep their ears warm (I've never had to do this before, I hope it works?)
