#asynchronous
Please tell me that the Steam Frame does asynchronous reprojection on the side of the headset with no need for the streamed host machine to do anything.

I am so tired of the DRM leasing issues on linux and the unreliable frame delivery on PC in general. Offloading it to the headset would be great.

But just in general, whether it's asynchronous advancement, goals, abilities, balance, or whatever; games need to stop being scared of letting characters be different. Trying to make sure every character can fit through the same holes/hit the same metrics is how you get boring overbalanced pablum.
November 12, 2025 at 4:08 PM
But also things like impact on the world being asynchronous. Maybe one character can raise mountains, another can go invisible. A third is a fully titled and un-banished princess.
Obviously these characters have very different incentives, paths to follow, and ways to affect the world around them.
November 12, 2025 at 4:08 PM
Modern games are terrified of asynchronicity and it's a problem.

We need more games that just unapologetically have characters of totally different power levels and even goals and rules. Not imbalanced, but asynchronous. They're not imbalanced because they aren't trying to do the same thing.
I know this may come across as unreasonable, but I feel like when I pick up an officially licensed TTRPG adaptation of some piece of media, it shouldn't be a coin toss whether there will be any mechanism for playing as the sorts of characters the game's ostensible source material is actually about.

NSBCon 2015: Top Mistakes Using NServiceBus
One of the great things about NServiceBus is that it is so flexible. But with that flexibility comes the opportunity to do inadvisable things. What kind of things, you ask? At NSBCon 2015, Kijana…

My online classes are polar opposites. One class has shrunk considerably, while the other class last a quarter of students. I do think the asynchronous, online and tech-heavy courses play conducive to stress at home and being overwhelmed across courses, especially if students work.
Are all the just-in-time notifications and reminders in your learning management system contributing to students’ stress? One professor thinks so. https://chroni.cl/497GN9T
