For #AstroEducation
Some kinesthetic astronomy links (KA). Any others? Hope to expand use of KA in spring public sessions. Attendance can vary from "a few" to "a few dozen" unpredictably, so activities which can be adapted by crowd size are good.

Here is another bumper sticker from the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. Quasars, we now understand, are the brilliant centers of distant galaxies, lit up by a giant black hole that is eating very messily.

One thing I hope we'll get in #astroeducation is some discussion about kinesthetic astronomy: learning about the universe by moving your body. One version of this I do every month is the scale-model solar system walk (based on Guy Ottewell's 1000-yard model).

I've tried to explain the observations of the CMB (the Cosmic Microwave Background), the relic emission, in 9 minutes in this TEDx talk few years ago:

One more bumper sticker from the Astronomical Society of the Pacific from the 1980's. Titan is a moon of Saturn, and, mysteriously, it has an atmosphere thicker than Earth.

Hello #astronomy #astroeducation #astrohistory, perhaps you might enjoy the thread below. Cheers!
The complaint below is totally legitimate. If anything, star names like ABC789 mask the problem, because the same object might have many different such names, none of them alike. The "hottest known star," WR 102, has at least twelve such names, shown below in a multi-database search. 🧪🧵

« No war in 1939: clairvoyants and astrologers are unanimous »

It’s important to acknowledge that astrology is not a scientific discipline but rather a form of entertainment and a business. Recognizing and accepting this distinction is essential. 😉
