She stands as pale
as Parian statues stand;
Like Cleopatra
when she turned at bay,
And felt her strength above the Roman sway

Rubio’s act, like the right’s obsession with classical architecture & statues, comes from the same place as North Korea’s state sanctioned haircuts, Stalin’s insistence that socialist realist artists were ‘engineers of souls’, & Nazi attacks on ‘degenerate’ art.

Look all i'm saying is if they added in goldship to GBVR they could have her skybound art be her chuckin her anchor after gaining inspiration from the statues of the three goddess'.

This weekend was crazy busy so I only finally got to fire up Metroid Prime 4 last night

A couple of hours in and this is a new peak in art direction and tech from Nintendo imo

This thing is stunning with a 4K HDR display, these screenshots won’t do it justice

Art restorer works on damaged Clara Luper National Sit-In Plaza statues.

What is wrong with people? Why damage public art that celebrates the rights of the people?

Is all art made by men actually that important and historical or is it just men sucking each other off. And I mean everything from movies to statues to painting to music to philosophy

My counterpoint to this is that you wouldn't exactly let someone off the hook for not being able to address the secondary scholarship in French, German, Italian, Modern Greek, etc. if doing archaeological or art historical work on statues if they're doing serious scholarship.

I am sure there are original texts *about* the statues as well (not to mention whom/what they represent). But the art historian's job is probably more to comment on how the likeness of Q. Ipse Ipseque was rendered, rather than to research and critically discuss the details of his life from texts.

OK that sounds bad.
I would be open however to discussing what sort of language knowledge we are talking about. Presumably, an art historian dealing with statues may have less need to be completely reading-fluent in a language than a law historian.
That spectrum might extend farther than I thought.

A long time ago I wrote a blog post that’s a version of this idea applied to Superman. That if there is a fictional figure who can solve all problems facing mankind, then it is possible for the human mind to conceive of those solutions, and therefore we lead ourselves to a better tomorrow.
