Arabic calligraphy, the supreme art form in the Islamic world, enhances this tombstone. The elegant Arabic script embellished with leaf tendrils at the top of the tall letters is called floriated Kufic. Verses about paradise from the holy Koran border the central arch-shaped niche that resembles a mosque's mihrab, located in the wall closest to the holy city of Mecca. The name of the deceased and the year of his death are recorded within the niche above the names of the carvers: "The work of Abaidallah Murra(?) and 'Umar(?)." The inscriptions from the Koran translate as follows: Outer border (read from right to left): "In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate. Every soul shall taste of death; and ye shall only receive your recompenses on the Day of Resurrection. And who so shall escape the fire, and be brought into Paradise, shall be happy And the life [of this world is but a cheating fruition]" (3:185). Inner border: "In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate. But as for those who say, 'Our Lord is God'; and who go straight to Him, the Angels shall descend to them and say 'Fear ye not, neither be ye grieved, but rejoice ye in the Paradise which ye have been [promised]'" (41:30).

As for how it's put together, I touch up the colors and apply a halftone effect (with "multiply" blend mode) .
I put a faint layer of yellow over it all, for the finishing touch !
Three pieces of paper, all of which are part of episode 185 of my comic: Miscreants. A dip pen, mechanical pencil, and eraser are on top of the pages. One page is of the line art, one is of the colors, and the last one is of the sketch (which is almost completely obscured, except for the thumbnail and two doodles of characters who feature in the comic). Throughout the image are blocks of text. The color page is labeled as, "Colored with alcohol markers and colored pencils. Inks and colors done on cardstock ! (Plastic sheet is put between the pages so alcohol ink does not bleed through)." The pen is labeled as "Swag new pen." The thumbnail sketch is labeled as "Tin thumbnail for composition reference."

The Palasmurts are a race of degenerate space travelers, presumably arriving on generation ships from the galaxy NGC 185. The last known representatives of this species currently live alongside the medieval Yustrits race on the planet Ristza. The Palasmurts are one-legged and one-armed alien refugees divided into two groups: settlements and solitary ones. The former live in the forest and lead a sedentary lifestyle reminiscent of medieval civilizations, while the latter are nomadic, frequently attacking random travelers or trade caravans with the intent of robbing or killing. Research into this race has also revealed that this group is far from the first. A spaceship also crashed in Southern Siberia on Earth in the 5th century BC. Colonists from there lived for some time in the forests of Southern Siberia and Eastern Europe until they were completely exterminated by the 18th century. Interestingly, they even became part of the folklore of both the Earth and Yustrits races.
