Not in the US. None care that every time you get covid, a heart attack/stroke/2 arrhythmias are 1.5-2.4x+ likely, for 3(!!) years. Like measles, each infection reduces immunity to other diseases - even ones you’re vaccinated against, and kids are 2x as likely to get LC after 2nd infection. Few mask.

Sarah is correct, do not use a defibrillator on someone in a-fib — the external defibrillators are for people in v-fib or other immediately life-threatening arrhythmias, and you’ll know it bc they will not be conscious and gasping for breath

Cardio-renal signals are real. Multiple cohorts now show higher rates of post-COVID cardiovascular problems in kids: hypertension, arrhythmias, myocarditis, thromboembolism, and chest pain compared with uninfected controls.

V fib..."flare-up." Like psoriatic arthritis? That's one way of putting the most serious of all, potentially fatal, arrhythmias.

For those on the thread who are not familiar, an ICD is an "implantable cardioverter-defibrillator" which is kind of like an AED device but internal. It can detect arrhythmias and deliver an electrical signal that resets the ventricles.

He had a stroke and it may have caused changes to his personality. He also has heart issues and has an implanted defibrillator because his heart goes into lethal arrhythmias. When he became lightheaded - his brain was not getting adequate blood supply.

Heart attacks cause about half of VF events in adults. But I’m pretty certain that’s not what happened here, at least not an acute MI. More likely, he has cardiomyopathy that makes him prone to ventricular arrhythmias. It would explain the ICD, if he has one, which I would bet he does.
November 13, 2025 at 11:33 PM
He does. Precisely because of his potential for ventricular arrhythmias.

And those devices have a recorded history so a cardiologist can query it and see how often arrhythmias occur. But, yeah, he had cardiac arrest.

It's great *before* the vomiting starts. Once that seal is broken then it's not as effective. Saw someone else post a reply that there are less dangerous things than Zofran OTC, but that's not a fair assessment of risks b/c Zofran has the ability to trigger heart arrhythmias in susceptible patients

This category includes everything from #chatbots offering mental health support to #smartphone #apps that self-diagnose skin conditions and smartwatch algorithms that detect arrhythmias.
