The history of Santa Muerte in the Philippines is at least as old as in Mexico but because of her rising popularity and condemnation by the Church a parish priest in Argao has banned her from Holy Week processions!

In 2015 I found Santa Muerte in Argao, Philippines. The priceless statue, made of ivory and wood, has been in the family for generations and only comes out for Holy Week processions symbolizing the victory of Christ over Death. They say it's female and call it both la Muerte and Santa Muerte.

also i forgor to share but last week we came across locally made hablon garments from Argao, Cebu that emulate the colorways, patterns, and techniques as described by WH Scott IIRC
Culottes made from Hablon using a striped technique. The colors are yellow, navy, maroon, and gray Skirt made from Hablon weaving, baby blue and streaks of light blue.
