1) uninstall Android studio [i tried to keep user config – bad choice]
2) download the latest android studio (~1 Gb)
3) install studio
- tried to install in a new directory - didn't work
Missing essential plugin:
org.jetbrains.android
Please reinstall Android Studio from scratch
4) this is the original failure, presumably I have to delete all the user config too
5) delete the whole AndroidStudio directory
hard to do since JRE directory was constantly in use.....
6) delete the new AndroidStudio(1) directory
7) try and install again
- nope
+ had to reboot the laptop, then delete
8) try again to install
- nope still not working

(1)ASからDeviceManagerでAVD起動できるが、Run...Debug Appのみ動作する。デバッガ無しで実行は不可。
(2)AVDを終了させると、ASからは2度と起動できない。起動するには、Terminalからコマンドラインでemulator起動した後（起動不可）タスクマネージャでqemuプロセスを停止するか、またはAS自体を再起動する。
多分AMD CPUでの仮想化の問題で、少し前のASでは動いてた。現状のCPUシェアだと、「AMDだから動きません」だと困る人いっぱいいると思うんだけどな

Very sad to see Marcan resigning from the #AsahiLinux project. I hope he can recover and that the project continues alright. I ran it for a while on my M1 (the first alpha) and it felt great. If / when AndroidStudio could run I could daily drive it.

ひとまずLinux上のAndroidStudioは動くようなので、古本だけど一冊買ってみました
