„In Europa ist die Pflanze eigentlich keine Seltenheit. Auch im Bodensee kam sie früher vor, nur war sie dort laut Uni Konstanz seit mehr als 30 Jahren verschwunden. Forscher vermuten, dass das an der Wasserverschmutzung sowie an der Ammonium- und Phosphorbelastung des Sees gelegen hat.“

Time for another shift in Derail Valley at the top of the hour! Last time around, I picked up the Hazmat II certification, which allows me to handle some properly dangerous cargo like gasoline and ammonium nitrate. Very lucrative... but also very explodey. No pressure, right?...

A Zionist Karen in Canada wearing a Jewish Defence League hoodie was arrested after attempting a chemical attack on pro-Palestine protesters in Toronto. She used ammonium hydroxide, a toxic chemical that causes severe burns and lung damage.

This what defending the Zionist ethnostate looks like.

Look, really, burning ammonia makes orange smoke. Dunno why. It's the classic colour of an ANFO explosion plume ('ammonium nitrate fuel oil').

AFAIK the thermodynamics don't work ( not an expert I'm a geologist). There are other storage solutions but CCS for industrial emissions is IMO essential, plants using methane for ammonium nitrate fertiliser are some of the largest single emissions sources in UK.

You say I’m trying to poison my lab with ammonium chloride. I say I’m just offering up some Finnish treats.

A JDL supporter showed up to a pro-Palestine demonstration yesterday in Toronto with a jug of ammonium hydroxide. Imagine being so pro-genocide that you want to attack people with acid because they oppose it.

Pro-Israel lunatic, wearing JDL shirt, arrested in Toronto after threatening pro-Palestine protesters with a chemical substance. Fire crews confirmed it was lab-grade ammonium hydroxide. Police issued a statement saying a “female was arrested on scene for assault with a weapon and uttering threats.”

As Arctic sea ice melts, new life may emerge from the thaw. Researchers have discovered that bacteria beneath and along the melting ice are converting nitrogen gas into a form that fuels algae. The ra...

Unsurprising, yet maddening.

Especially given yet another study dropped yesterday connecting one of his obsessions with air pollution, specifically sulfates from fossil fuel combustion and ammonium. Maybe look into that.

These were the candy flavors of my childhood: ammonium chloride, menthol, tar and anise. Being a Finnish child meant having to choose between tar and anise. It was grim af. Somebody slapped you if you asked for pomegranate flavor.

I’ve given away the few grams of yellow powder but still don’t know what it was, never had any reason to open it.

I’d guess ammonium diuranate?

The thorium nitrate in a little plastic mineral box with the built in magnifying lens was neat but also concerning.
It must have been in low humidity.

My ammonium carbonate and star anise similarly inhabit a random cupboard because they were late arrivals. I also have big jars of common herbs and spices (garlic powder, salt, pepper, cinnamon, etc.) hither and yon.

🤣 I always went for the ammonium chloride - which, for some reason, was always out of stock everywhere LOL

I'm team ammonium chloride for sure! 👍
