-Sth hemisphere
-giant sycamore uphill of our house
-about 20m away.

One mature sycamore maple can cast more shade than a passive aggressive grandparent.

(sycamore maples are considered noxious invasive weeds up here, on par with agapanthus)

In San Jose, California is an agapanthus plant that I pass by about once a week. On November 19th, the plant put out a lone cluster of buds. Over the course of more than a month, seen in basically weekly photos (clockwise), they waited. Until today, when two opened.
A six part photo collage, consisting of five smaller squares from the right side down then to the left, with a large square in the upper left corner. Going clockwise from the small upper right square, there is a cluster of agapanthus buds, close to each other, and new to the world, looking like they are glowing through their violet exteriors. The next three squares show these buds reaching further outward, until in the last small square, two of them have opened, on the downward side. The final, larger square above is a macro close-up of one of the open flowers, with light blue petals and darker streaks down the middle of each. Curving outward from the center are long blue stamen with brush-like yellow anthers at their ends.

I spent Christmas near Imperial Wharf in London and enjoyed walking along the Thames. Apparently that area is called Sands End and it was fascinating to see how many plants (including this Hebe) were in flower. I even spotted some Agapanthus!

Lily of the Nile (Agapanthus) is a beautiful perennial known for its tall stems topped with clusters of blue trumpet-shaped flowers. In Australia it is sometimes known as Star of Bethlehem for its appearance just before Christmas. Mothyandthesquid.com #mothyandthesquid #yarn #knitting #crochet

I found another agapanthus with a Kuato in the wild.
(And by "a Kuato", I guess I mean "a connate stalk", and by "in the wild" I mean "in the CBD".)
