A bat, named Angel, has their attention caught by something-- was it a sight, a sound, or just a thought? That seems to be unclear, but whatever it is, their ear flicks a tiny bit. In a faded afterimage behind him, we see their expression beginning to fall under a sway, and in a further faded afterimage behind *that*, one that seems to have entirely succumbed to a hypnotic spell. Kia has just revealed a lot of lore to Helena in a secret meeting, but told her to avoid the chapel in case more demons are spotted.
At the end of this meeting, they shake hands and… huh… that’s weird…
The light surrounded Kia, or perhaps rose from within her, settling into a kind of afterimage of brilliant turquoise. The light trails from her hair floated around her face as if she were submerged in water. A pair of muscular tails, like aquatic serpents, coiled behind her, drifting over the path in a shimmer of scales and sparks. Kia’s long eyelashes fluttered and when she drew her hand back, she wore a startled look. “I… I’m on watch,” she said, loudly, spinning on her heel to go. Helena let her disappear along the path through the trees, dazed by her touch and the strange vision.
