In terms of #genealogy writing: I finished my last Pharos assignment of the year, and I have a couple of writing projects on the go - writing my own history, making sure I have written proofs for all my direct ancestors researched to date plus WikiTree bios. #genchat

#31DaysOfGraves I couldn’t get #Inside to see the memorial stone dedicated to my gg grandfather, John Dobbie who was also the first Principal of Hunters Hill Public School across the road. John & his wife Isabella are buried at Field of Mars cemetery, Ryde, NSW & a beautiful tribute from him to her

I have a similar feeling about Wikitree. If that goes away I have wasted so many hours of my life for nothing.

Most is on Ancestry. I only have the basic US subscription now, because all my ancestors are colonial, so I have plenty of research this side of the pond.

Wikitree and Internet Archive have good resources, and I've found a few German-specific places on the web.

Really, just Google can help.

I use spreadsheets for census transcription and analysis but I've been using #WikiTree for the family reconstruction part of my #OnePlaceStudy. Early days yet, but so far so good.

If you are facebook there are many Métis groups there (Métis Families is a good one), that is full of people with experience in genealogical research. Even ancestry sites online, where you can build a family tree (like wikitree), is helpful for research and keeping track ❤️😊

I got that invitation, too, but when I read their terms & conditions, I balked. It said they could do what they want with our info. Nope. They said they'd try to narrow that; haven't heard back. I like the idea, but I will probably stick with WikiTree. FS good for docs and their Wiki, tho.

I haven’t, but it’s on my ‘to watch’ list too. I haven’t put anything on WikiTree for a few months, it’s time I got back to it
