#WhyIWrite
I have always been A Words ‘Baby’.

Words didn’t just invite me in—they birthed me. At six, I battled through a four-page newspaper article. That struggle ignited a lifelong love of meaning and story. #WhyIWrite #WritingCommunity

All my life I’ve loved finding a new author, then realizing they have written many books 🤩 Such a joy! When readers tell me they’ve felt that way about my books, it reminds me why I don't give up in the tough world of modern publishing. What keeps you going?

I missed the official National Day on Writing yesterday (ironically/perfectly, I was spending most of the day writing!), but I write in part to remember details both big and small. If I don't write it out, it doesn't exist in my head!

Happy National Day on Writing! #WhyIWrite

I have stories inside that I want to form into words for me and others.

I like to write low-angst stories with an HEA to put some positivity into the world.

I write inclusive, queer romances because everyone deserves dignity, respect, and happiness.

#WhyIWrite I'm not fast on my feet. I don't think eloquently in a pinch. I'm not a particularly sharp live debater. But give me time to think about what comes next — when I have unlimited room to expand, revise, curate, and complete — I'm never better at conveying my thoughts than via writing.

I don't truly know what I "think" until I have a chance to research and write about it.

I write to think, to share what I think, and to participate in those prickly dialectical tensions.

#WhyIWrite: Because I am a disabled nerrd and writing gives me a sense of meaning and purpose to my existence. Also I am annoyed Enterprises didn't get the Temporal Cold War right and even Farscape wasn't horny enough
#WhyIWrite: so that I am not the only one burdened by all these THOUGHTS!
It's NCTE's National Day on Writing. Every year, we reflect on why we write.

#WhyIWrite: So that the running dialogue in my head isn't the only one I'm having.

#WhyIWrite: because the ringing of the bell commands me.

Also, because I have a lot of emotions I don't know how to healthily deal with.

And because I want to tell stories and create art. I'm not sure if I'm going to have children, so my work is my children.
#WhyIWrite: so that I am not the only one burdened by all these THOUGHTS!

I write because I feel compelled to tell the stories that I come up with. I write to share other people's stories and news. I write because I want to tell others about wonderful things, lived experiences and challenges overcome. I hope my writing inspires others. #WhyIWrite #NationalDayOnWriting
