Those are not comparable. Voice providers for Vocaloids are contracted to record the voice bank, which is an extensive series of specialized recordings. Additionally, you can't use a Vocaloid for free, you have to buy the software to use it, which kicks royalties back to the Voice Bank provider.

This all sounds less shit but like, esp then they should actually explain that in the steam listing "AI use in this game" thing, and even then idk man just pay some VAs to do things fully or just straight up use vocaloids for it imo, rn the halfway description of it is iffy

This! And it's especially fun how there's so little lore for each of them that you can really just make stuff up about them and there's not usually much to contradict whatever headcanons you have, which I'd say also helps on the side of Vocaloids being instruments too.
