The body of the Var'U'San is typically slim, with long limbs & lean muscles. Their ribcage has a gap at the front held together by tendons.

I'm thinking about giving them the ability to expand their ribcage further by stretching the gap. For extra oxygen consumption.

The Var'U'San are a rare species in my world. They were the first ones to discover Earth and even "stole" some humans in secret.

They regretted it dearly.

I was playing with the line colors and the shading. The shading is subtle, but it makes a difference to me.
Lines are traditional - a fineliner sketch to be precise :)

I explored some movements with that 3-jount set-up, trying to make them believable, in an everyday situation - like checking nails for presentability 👀 or something.

A sketchy illustration of an alien creature. Their head is vaguely shaped like a dog's, but with a bony plate on top. They have no eyes, but three holes in the plate (on each side). Their arms have one more joint which makes the arm bend in an awkward angle. And then there are those two fat worm-like appendages on the side of their head snaking through the air. The alien is looking at their claws of the left arm questioningly.

This species has 2 elbows - or 2 wrists(?) Judging by the type of movement of the middle joint it's rather 2 wrists than 2 elbows.
