Ulster Hockey welcomed UK Lions to Lisnagarvey Hockey club over the weekend for a five game series between the Girls U16 sides. Ulster's U16 side, loaded with quite a few All Ireland Schools Champions from the last two years, proved too much from the UK Lions side with the home team winning all five matches. However, the energetic Lions side made the Ulster girls work hard for their wins.

Ulster Hockey welcomed UK Lions to Lisnagarvey Hockey club over the weekend for an eight game series between the Boys U16 sides. With Ulster using the series to try out combinations, ahead of the Interprovincial Championship at the end of the month, it was the Lions side that dominated proceedings, in the Friday and Saturday matchups, with six wins from six over the first two days.

We caught up with the Representative Series between Ulster U16 Girls and Scotland U16 Girls at Jordanstown Sports Village over the weekend. The teams played a three match series with a match on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was very much a development series for the young Ulster side, who were playing together for the first time, against a Scotland team well advanced in their preparations for what should be a busy summer for the national side.

We caught up with the Ulster Hockey Senior 1 match between Larne and Rndalstown at Larne Gammar on Wednesday evening. Larne were looking for a win or a draw to claim promotion for the third season on the bounce, a remarkable achievement. Randalstown, despite being in the hunt for most of the seaason, had dropped off the pace in recent weeks but they were always going to be a danger having beaten Larne in the Senior Cup in their last visit to Larne Grammar.

On a sunny Wednesday evening, Roughfort was the venue for the Women’s Senior 2 fixture between Owls and Ballyclare. Our friends at Owl needing a win to jump out of the relegation zone in their last fixture of the season. Heather Carson opened the scoring for Ballyclare Ballyclare took the game to Owls from pushback and midway through the first quarter took the lead with a fine penalty corner strike by Captain Heather Carson, giving the 'keeper little chance.

We caught up with the Ulster Hockey Intermediate Cup Semi Final between South Antrim and Owls at Friends School on Saturday afternoon. South Antrim showed why they are run away winners of Senior 2 as they progressed to the final in some style against an Owls side who minds appeared to be focused on their ongoing relegation battle.

We caught up with the Ulster Hockey Senior Cup 3rd Round match between Belfast Royal Academy and The Royal School Armagh at Roughfort on Saturday afternoon. You have to feel some sympathy for BRA, indeed any side, who had to face the all conquering Armagh in the early rounds of the Senior Cup but the home side had a bright opening quarter and looked dangerous on the break.

With a raft of cancellations on Saturday I was able to stay close to home and catch the Ulster Hockey Senior Cup Quarter Final match between Larne and Raphoe at Lower Cairncastle Road. It's been quite the rejuvenation at Larne who sit atop Senior 1, battling for a third straight promotion, but they had to battle hard against an experienced Raphoe side in this lively encounter.

I caught up with the Ulster Hockey Boys U15 Indoor Hockey Tournament at Antrim Forum on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, due to parking problems and a firmware upgrade on the camera I only caught the latter games. With the bulk of our morning games called off due to the weather we took to opportunity to catch up with the Ulster Hockey U15 girls Hockey Tournament at Antrim Forum on Saturday morning. The 10 teams were split into two groups of five and we caught up with all the competing teams over the first six games.
