My favorite theory is the Social Learning Theory because it emphasizes how we learn from observing others, which really resonates with how much behavior is shaped by environment and social influences. #UTcommtheory

I am with you on this. This class has made me realize how much we communicate without even thinking about it. It has helped me be more mindful in how I communicate on a day to day basis. #UTcommtheory

Hey Abbey, I totally agree! Even though we may not see it, we engage in different communication theories every day.

There is still agenda-setting being done in this digital age, but it happens differently now. It works by algorithms and code. People program codes, and those codes decide what content you get to see. They now gate keep our information. Being fed the same type of content gets boring. #UTcommtheory

Agenda setting theory is still very revelant because in my own social media use what appears in my feed depends on my past likes, clicks, and shares. #UTcommtheory

A recent article by Vogue went viral after saying that it‘s embarrassing have a boyfriend. As someone who has had one for four years (who I love dearly), I can see what Vogue means when I am with other couples who bring each other down.

a. AI has made it easier to receive rapid answers. It sometimes stops me from genuinely thinking through things on my own. The technology changes the way I think, making me value speed over deeper thought. That means I have to be more deliberate about keeping involved in my studying.

An example of assertive accommodation that I have witnessed is with my dad who is blind. He got a red and white cane a few years ago to navigate and notify other of his disability. He also visited me this year and requested ADA accommodations when we went to cedar point.

A theory I am familiar with is Piaget's cognitive stages of development. This theory aligns well with Burgoon's definition of theory because it is an informed guess that seeks to explain and understand how something works. A child goes from object permanence to symbolic thought.

This is interesting because my household developed into a consensual family after being a protective family type for 16 years. Now I can see when and how the change occurred; we eventually started to see our parental rules change once we were able to have a conversation with our parent #UTcommtheory
