#UNIX
how do you feel about strange timezone watches?

They're the first time I've been even slightly interested in watches in a while now. I want complications. I want unix time. I want circular hands a la RAKETA COPERNICUS. I want hybrid digital analogue weirdo stuff.

Sadly they're all cheaply made.

At some point i was even thinking of forking a small unix kernel (smth like netbsd) and adding datain file descriptors (like stdin). And use the shell token `|>` for the structured data pipes, and `3>` for the redirection.

There are two things I love pwsh that i wish unix had, the consistent naming policy (it really matter which scheme, but be consistent and predictable). And the data output instead of text output.

I am confused by a #OSX app that uses drive letters, OSX is a #unix system like #linux & #BSD (The OS, not the manga) and thus everything starts at "/", no letters used.

Why is Unix V4 so vital? It's the first version written in C and its source code was considered lost. Recovering it offers a rare glimpse into early OS development and a foundational piece of computing history. #LostCode 2/6

Quite right and I definitely get that most folks aren't their degree, I've worked with UNIX engineers with degrees in English and Chemistry and those folks besides being brilliant engineers were quite well rounded. I side-eye folks qualifying so called statements of fact on their unrelated degree

That's more or less only about the basic GUI and basic app usage.

Maybe also worth a minute or two:

and for looking things up in a structured collection:

Really all the standard Unix commands with args I can never seem to remember (find is the worst imo). Shellcheck for bullshit detection in larger scripts.

LLMs are also great at translating my pure Unix commands into damned PowersHell slop. I will always remain willfully ignorant about that shit.
