Han, Pan et al. analyse longitudinal lung function changes in UK Biobank to assess the impact of air pollution. They show that pollutants increase the risk of progression to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and hinder recovery from pre-COPD to normal lung function, revealing a dual pathway by which pollution harms respiratory health.

We analyzed ~40k MRIs in the #UKBiobank, including ~6k of people born during WWII. Those exposed to close bombings in-utero show differences in brain structure, even decades later.

All good points, I don’t think this is a huge investment, biobanks like UKBiobank, and other cohort studies have inherent value and this is just piggybacked onto that. I don’t know that we need RDR or any specific social scientist in genetics, but we do need the social sciences in genetics

People who consumed excess free sugar, starch, and animal protein had increased #Type2Diabetes risk, regardless of total calories.

For those people, substituting with non-free sugar and plant protein could reduce the risk.
