Photograph taken of an American Kestrel at Turbary Woods Owl & Bird of Prey Sanctuary in Lancashire. The kestrel looked head on at me so I grabbed the opportunity to take its photo. It looks menacing head on! Close up on an American Kestrel. It has a distinctive bright yellow/orange area above its sharp grey hooked bill. It has deep grey smooth feathers over the top of its head, like a slicked back hair do from an old gangster movie. Bright yellow/orange talon gripping the wooden perch and pale brown feathers mottled with darker flashes. There is a green protective mesh separating the bird and I (for which I was grateful) which adds a new colour to the image.
