Seth Moulton is our go-to person at TransitMatters.

I vowed never to vote for him statewide in Mass. after he challenged Nancy Pelosi for Speaker.

His political instincts — or lack thereof — have never disappointed me since then.

📈 Some TransitMatters Labs applications may be experiencing issues today, along with a lot of the Internet, due to issues with our web host.

🙏 They should hopefully be back up soon!

Seth Moulton is our political point person at TransitMatters, which just goes to show how bad we are at reading the room.

After he challenged Nancy Pelosi for Speaker in 2019, I swore I would never vote for him in a Democratic statewide primary.

I’m sticking to that.

Transit isn’t rejected—it’s about convenience. People choose what works.

Advocacy means fixing gaps, not forcing choices, and knowing more transit isn’t always better transit.

TransitMatters does 2 tph off-peak on each branch except Framingham/Worcester, which gets 4 tph but loses its express trains.
August 22, 2025 at 3:19 AM
I personally think 4 tph off-peak — what París RER branches are — is fine for Caltrain’s line length.

Fwiw, TransitMatters advocates 2 tph off-peak for the Providence Line (similar distance as Caltrain), and South Station, Back Bay, and Providence are fairly significant anchors.

🚏The T is investing in some of the T’s slowest & most bunched buses!

🐌 According to our 2024 Pokey/Schleppie Awards report, the 1 bus was last year’s slowest & most bunched bus. The 22 & 23 are also some of the slowest, & the 23 is also one of the MBTA's most bunched buses.

Over 2.6 million shared rides help rural PA seniors stay mobile every year. Without this service, many would be stuck at home.

IMO the most difficult crayon on the TransitMatters map is the Green/Orange replacement of the Needham Line; that's a lot of change with concentrated detriments (Needham-downtown travel times, Upper Falls Greenway, grade crossings, construction shutdowns, Riverside headways) & very diffuse benefits.
July 14, 2025 at 1:38 PM
I don't think I've seen anyone other than you propose taking it away from the Red Line. I think the main TransitMatters plan is that it would stay Red Line and gain a stop at Savin Hill (since moving the Red Line merge further south makes double tracking the commuter rail there much easier).

The problem is TransitMatters predicates NSRL on things that are political non-starters — e.g., Orange Line to W. Roxbury, GL to Needham.

Can you expand on why you think she ended this pilot, one which covered an important connection for JP residents and that TransitMatters showed caused a significant dip in delay times?
