the editor of a piece that i am working on + very excited about right now queried me about a reference to Jack Chick, which has sent me down a rabbit hole, and also reminded me of this promotional tract I drew for my first novel. I actually wrote to Chick Publications asking if they'd print it

And that means causality--and that means the same flawed, time-bound thinking that led to the ATOMIC BOMB! In order to achieve greatness and avoid destroying our planet, I need to reject all love!" says Patty, snapping her fingers. "You got it," says another voice. Panel 2: Julie Thatch calls: "Hey babe! We're doing some tests down at the lab tonight! Wanna come over and make out?" "Sorry, you timebound loser!" crows Patty. "I've been saved by the Institute and Dr. Bantam! ENJOY FEELING GUILTY!" She hangs up. Jules says: "Oh well, her loss! But what's that---YAAAAAGH!" In the background, a scientist (who I remember consider coloring red, like that one Chick tract about the rock musicians) says: "I'm afraid you should have listened to your friend! Now get the best science has to offer--DEATH!" Final panel, Patty, standing in front of a bunch of weirdos smiling with dead faces, says: "Thanks to the applied philosophies of Dr. Bantam, I'm going to be morally perfect forever!" A caption tells us: "You can be perfect too! To begin your personal journey, YOU MUST LOOK AT THE NEXT PAGE!" (The next page is an ad for buying the novel at O/R Books's website made up to look like the Chick Tract boilerplate)

Ebooks are even more expensive than 5 years ago, with the initial costs for licensing one of each available title in the U.S. being $47.69 and $53.79 in Canada, compared to $35.54 and $37.62 for comparable titles then. The less expensive indie titles do not offset a larger price increase by the Big Five. Digital audiobooks are initially more expensive than ebooks; however, due to the higher number of perpetual licenses, they do not escalate as quickly. It is debatable, though, if the remaining members of the Big Five will keep the perpetual option. High initial license costs, especially on timebound licenses, make many digital titles marginal. Most libraries can’t afford to spend the average $60–$65 for time-bound metered books without having some likelihood of high circulation. The high cost of having to retain these books more than 2 years makes many titles even more likely to go uncollected. Varied license terms are welcome and can, in some cases, lower costs; however, alone, they seldom guarantee anything approaching print equivalent prices. Medium, smaller, and indie publishers are more likely to offer lower costs—sometimes even lower than print—with better overall licensing terms.

I am fine with that timebound process being imposed, it will seem eventually what will be necessary is conditioning all aid to Israel on a two-state solution within a given window (that presumes the Palestinians are onboard as well).

And the detail about the vehicle being used at night - how is that related to disability?! No clarity at all - but it's needed. Disabled people are not, as a famous tweet once pointed out, werewolves! Our physical restrictions are not necessarily timebound. Why should we not travel when we choose?
