I have a busy weekend. At the terrific Tidelines Book Festival in Ayrshire on Saturday 10am, then Wigtown Book Festival on Sunday at 1.30pm. Both in Scotland. Taking my dog Max, and I'll be doing a prop and joke filled author event all about...My dog Max.

Went on a harbourside walk with Tidelines Book Festival this morning. Perfect weather for it. Surprising how many literary connections there are with the area. Finished up in the bookshop. Would have been rude not to buy a book...or two, don't you think.

Spinning beautiful wool into lovely yarn by the fireplace.
A Tidelines gig.
Standing on an empty hilltop on a clear day.
Baking bread.

As a kid, I loved scampering along the strand-line at the beach looking for shells and treasures.

Now it’s always a dispiriting parade of plastic crap - discarded fishing rope, bottles, shoes, and a million smaller fragments.

I’m only 40 - how did we let it get so bad so fast?!
