Today's painting is in black and white, a favourite colour palette of mine to play with that reflects a deeply human narrative. This work features five caricatures of older men, each has an expression of unhappiness. Through the lens of humour and poignancy, these caricatures illustrate the often overlooked realities of aging. Each character tells a story, representing the myriad emotions from regret to longing, experiences layered by the passing of time. In a society that often idolizes youth, this piece is asking the viewer to confront the beauty and dignity in the experiences that come with aging. I invite you to reflect on what aging means to you and the societal narratives surrounding it. What feelings or memories do these figures provoke? Share your thoughts below!
